What Medicine Hat Gyms Offer Kickboxing Classes?

There are plenty of martial arts options available in our community but we pride ourselves in offering a class that gives you all the benefits of martial arts without the bruises of sparring! Our classes are designed by martial arts athletes/coaches with 50+ years combined experience in the sport so you know that the movements you are doing are going to be fun and effective but also very technically sound!
If you are nervous about trying it because you have never taken a martial arts class in your life, don’t worry, you don’t need it! We will guide you every step of the way – from teaching the most basic punches and kicks to being able to put together more challenging combos with speed and power. Meanwhile, you are having so much fun, it doesn’t even feel like a workout!

Can a beginner do this class?

We love beginners! Just like any of our other classes, we know that each person comes to us with different backgrounds and experience levels. We start with the basics and work our way up to more challenging concepts when you are ready. The nature of this interval-style class allows you to go at a pace that feels good for you without feeling like you are holding up the class or getting slowed down by someone else. Every single person gets their own experience in a class environment.

Is there partner work in this Cardio Kick?

Occasionally we do include some drills that involve partners but take care to make sure that all participants are comfortable and ready for that so that they still get an incredible experience. Partner work can be tricky because it involves matching levels of expertise and power, and we want to ensure everyone is confident and feels safe!

What equipment is needed for Cardio Kick?

All participants use heavy bag training gloves. The size of these gloves typically varies by ‘weight’ but this doesn’t make a huge amount of difference for beginners. Finding gloves that fit comfortably and protect the knuckles while supporting the wrist is the primary concern. If you have your own gloves, please bring them with you to class. If you want to try it out before investing in equipment, we have plenty of shared equipment you can use. We recommend investing in your own set once you have done a couple of classes and we do carry some stock for sale or can recommend what brands may be best for your needs to purchase on your own. No fingerless ‘MMA’ gloves. Some participants will wear wrist and hand wraps but that is not necessary generally for beginners in this style of class.
